Cant connect to server by calling server using IP.

we got a 2012R2 server and dell laptop are connected in the LAN network and the laptop is connected as locally. i had mapped a folder from server to laptop successfully but i cant call the server using IP address . by typing
\\server (it is accessible)
\\00.00.00.00 IP(its not showing any thing
