Cant get a ip from DHCP server

hi, i have a labtop and a wireless router i cant get a ip from the router. DHCP is enabled on the router i still dont seem to be getting a ip from it . but when i assign a ip manually it works just fine . Any ideals how to get the ip from DHCP ?? help please
