can’t map drives

I have a network with 5 computers running XP and one of the computers a 2 printers hooked up to them.
Everyone can printer to them but quite often the have to type the login password to hook up to the printer PC. I have to tried to map to the PC and click on the box. “reconnect at login” but does not allow me to. As everyone PC on the network has this problem, I am thinking is the Printer PC but sure about what it can be.
Any ideas?
