Can’t run alternate browsers on XP Pro

I had a hard drive go down and am attempting to rebuild my system. I was able to run Mozilla and Netscape 7.1 along with I.E. before but now after installing xp again, it won’t let me run the other browsers. I have tried the “change defaults” feature, but it will not run the above named files. What can I do to get this corrected?…Steve
