Cant see my domain

Hi i have just setup and installed a SBS 2003
i cant seem to ping the domain name? not even from the server?>
so i cant join anyone to the domain.
The other problem is pc’s using Home edition obvioulsy cant join the domain, how do i get them to see the server? if at all possible.
any help would be appreciated.
