Can’t Surf Internet My LAN Status Is Connected.

I have just come to USA with my sony laptop and i am staying with my friend and i connect his lan line on my laptop the LAN Status is connected by i can’t surf the internet?Pls help i have been solving this problem for 2 weeks i have no idea.

My friend is using a Switch .Linksys EFAH05W.
