catalyst 4507 R switch

hi all
im looking out for some material which can best describe me the function of supervisor engine IV. we have a cat 4507R switch which is working as a backbone switch in our gigabit ethernet.
i want to know what is this supervisor engine IV on this chasis what it does and how can i benifit our network with this more efficiently .
