cd burner

I have recently installed a sony 16x/10x/40 cd/rw drive in a 233mzh computer Iam using nero burn which seems to work quite well
the problem is that the drive will recognise cd’s and play them but when it comes to burning the software tries to burnit onto the first drive that is a slave to the hard drive and not to the burner can anyone help in fixing this problem
