Of course, the brilliant developers of Windows XP are a constant source of endless loops. I suddenly found my CD ROM inaccessible due to a missing or corrupt driver. Can’t do a repair install. When it installs the starting install files it reboots and LOOKS FOR THE CD for the rest of the installation. I’ve saved the \I386 contents to a folder with that name on the default. I thought I’d try SFC and see if the System File Checker would replace my bad driver but IT WANTS TO ACCESS THE CD FOR DLLs. HELP! Can I use Regedit to make repair install or SFC look at the flat files?
