cd/dvd drive not recogizing discs cd or dvd anymore ??

hey all i need help , im not very good at computers and seem to have a problem with my dvd/cd drive .. i have a hp pavillion dv2000
and when i put a cd/dvd it doesnt recognize it on the my computer setting ??

i tried to restoe it to an earlier date and that worked , but its not working anymore ? i havent been on the internet with it in months so i dont think its a virus ..

can anybody please help me ?
