cd not recognised in win xp

I am running windows xp and am having trouble when changing cd’s. After playing a cd and closing the program if I insert a new cd, the system does not recognise the new cd and still shows the old cd in windows explorer. I have to log off and then back in again for the system to pick up the new cd
