CD-R drive wont work or open

My CD-R drive will open any longer. Also when you click on the adaptec direct cd wizard and when you get to the screen that says drive information, it says no cd-r/cd-rw drive supported. Also under device manager, the cd-r drive is not there. Allthe connections are there. Also in the system tray, theres the red circle w/ the line through the cd-r drive.
