CD REWriter

I keep getting the error “Install assistant could not find a suitable IDE controller for the HP CD-Writer Plus” when trying to install my internal HP 8200i cd writer.
It is succesfully detected by windows as a valid drive and i can read cd’s from it but the software will not install.
I have tried installing on a second machine with the same error.
One system is running XP the other 2000 Pro.
Can anyone help
