CD Rom Driver

Hi Folks,
My home PC has stopped recognizing my CD ROM, It’s not listed on My Computer, nor in the BIOS. I’ve tried running my Windos XP Pro Boot Up Disks but to no avail! I get to the end of installing the disks and then states it cannot find the Disk (which I have placed in the CD ROM). I have checked the conections at the back of my PC – all would appear to be in order.

Any ideas on what I should do??
