CD-ROM problem

Hello!
I have problem with CD-ROM in Windows XP pro.
After start up windows can’t read any CD and asks me to insert it into drive. But I did it! Fast (but of course not best) solution is to reboot computer with CD within drive. After it I can workwith any CD. I tied to uninstall and install CD drive again but it doesn’t help.
What can I do else???
