CD-ROM, Read or Write

When I let windows xp do an windows update, my CD-Rom would not read or write anymore. It tells me I have an I/0 error. I never touched the IRQ, I tried to update the driver for this CDROM_ CD/DVD read writer. I loved the way it read all my cds, rip them and rewrite them for our music ministry.
Can anyone help
