CD-RW writes, but contents on CD not accessible thereafter

I have a Dell GX-280 whose CD-RW writes and seem to run the write procedure to completion, but contents expected on CD not accessible thereafter (i.e. the CD remains blank).

Does anyone have an answer as to what the cause of this could be and what it’s solution is?

We have tried to write to CDs using the in-built Windows XP SP2 writer as well as a third party vendor application to no avail.
