CD-RW’s on Win NT

I am in the need of an external cd-rw drive at work, but we have Windows NT and I know that NT has many restriction compared to normal windows as far as compatability goes. Is is possible to install a cd-rw on a PC with NT on it or is this a futile battle? Thanks.
