CD writing

I have got a ‘Benq’ internal CD – writer(20*10*40). My problem is I am unable to write data CD’s (CD – R) of more than 650MB capacity though the CD I use is of 700MB capacity i.e., data from the hard disk only and for CD to CD I am able to write.
If I try to write the CD – writing LED glows for a few seconds and it dissappears and I get an error message “burn process failed” and I cannot use the CD anymore.

I use ‘Nero- Burning ROM’ (version : 5.5.5.3 bundled) which I had recieved withthe writer.

system config. :

Intel 1.5ghz pentium – 4 processor
256MB RAM
40 GB hard disk(Samsung 7200RPM)
Windows Xp operating system
