cdrom driver missing or corrupted

by babber . Updated 23 years, 7 months ago

I have tried updating, rolling back the driver, uninstalling & reinstalling, I don’t know what else to do. I have windows xp, & my cdrom is Samsung cd-rom/rw sw-216b & under driver details is listed C:Windows/System32/drivers/cdrom.sys,imapi.sys,redbook.sys,storprop.dll & the one I think may be causing the problem is CDRALW2K.sys (it says provider Adaptec, not digitally signed). The others are provided by Microsoft & are digitally signed. Under general page is listed- Device Type-DVD/CD-ROM drives, Manufacturer- Standard CD ROM drives, Location 0(0).
When I try to install a program using the cdrom I get error message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code39)
