I faced a different peculiar problem in one of my clients’ computer. The icons of the msoffice documents (word document, excel sheets, etc.), have their corresponding pictures in windows explorer. But when we load a word / excel and select file openmenu option, the open file box appears. In that box all the word documents have different icons other than msoffice’s proprietory icons. The icons displayed are installed software icons of some other softwares. The client don’t have any knowledge about registry or ini files. He doesn’t do anything what he don’t know. This error seems to be occured automatically. If we consider he did some thing with change icon option of the file properties, the another icon must be displayed in the windows explorer also. But explorer displays the correct corresponding icons.
Where is the error and how can we rectify it?
