Some background on me. I am currently working in financial reporting for mutual funds. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an MBA.
I am switching careers to IT. I just started this process. I’m 25% through the CompTIA IFT+ and 66% done with the free Packet Tracer labs/courses from Cisco. (if any people from Cisco read this, I think the whole Packet Tracer program is brilliant and a great way to learn, thank you for making it free)
I am heavily leaning towards a focus and career(hopefully) in Network Admin or Cybersecurity.
My questions:
Either way, I feel A+ is required given my limited IT background. Am I correct?
After A+, either CompTIA Network+ or CCNA. does either of these have an advantage over the other for Network Admin or Cybersecurity? Or is it a Coke vs Pepsi debate? (i.e. people like what they like and nothing will change their mind) Or is there a better third option I’m not considering?
Given how long A+ is and the fact that I didn’t even start it yet, I know I have time to dig into the above. I want to be confident in my decision and hit the ground running.
