As a relative newbie to IT Admin I need to learn the most successful approach to choosing new hardware and software.The more I trawl through the vast amounts on the features and specifications of computers and components, the more I fear about making the wrong choice.
I try to think about what the user needs it to do,but then worry about how upgradeable it is if these needs change, not to mention the value for money issues. Ideally I need to be able to make choices without days of research over each item!
With software there is always the issue over whether to buy a suite of products or just the one item, bearing in mind people’s needs change.
Has anyone any recommendations on how to approach the whole thing?I’d really appreciate hearing how others handle these issues.
