Cisco Aironet 1252 Initial Setup Problems

by jasonnewberger . Updated 18 years, 3 months ago

Environment: Auto service bays in a service department. Lots of metal and I am sure a great deal of interference. I had a cheap’o Linksys router in place but due to it constantly having to be rebooted due to losing my clients which consists of about 12 uses I upgraded to the Cisco Aironet 1252. I placed it on my network, DHCP assigned it an ip address. I used this ip address and set it to be reserved on my DHCP server. In the configuration of the 1252 I selected the address to be static. I changed all the passwords away from the “Cisco” generic, ran the quick setups for both the router setup and the security on the router. Enables 128 bit WEP encryption. Set the radio “0” to enabled. Now time to check to see if it is working……

Well I got on the laptop, and low and behold the connection is there. Connected to it, entered the security key and everything looked good to go. But…I am not getting an IP address, only connection to the router.

Any ideas? I am stumped and I am sure I am missing something really easy here.

Thanks

Jason
