cisco c3548xl switch ..how to?

how can I connect to the console port on the switch (the only port available as it does not have aux or serial ports), using a Lenovo laptop with VISTA?
can I do it through the network port, if so, what cable and/or adapter do I need?
can I do it through one of the USB ports, if so, what cable/or adapter do I need?
