Cisco router 2610 issue

My Network Admin. needs to change the current router “password” configuration because the previous network administrator setup the “password” to appear while it is being entered! I believe this scenario to be a security risk and would appreciate anyassistance in correcting the situation! Thanks in advance to anyone out there with the resolution!!!
