Cisco router routing

I have a Cisco 2621 router with 2 ethernet port.
I have 2 network segments 192.168.253.x/24 and 10.0.0.x/8.In order for both network to communicate each other,do I need configured Inter Vlan routing or I just use the static route or Rip route will do.
