Class C Subnetting ??

by k4k . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

According to my understanding the Subnet Mask
of class C 255.255.255.224 can have 6 Subnets those are 32,64,96,128,160,192. & it can have 30 host per subnet. i.e 11100000 three bits for Subnet & rest of the 5 bits for Host.

but you see there is an IP Address 203.200.55.55 with Subnet mask 255.255.255.224. how is this ??
here the subnet 55 is the point of confusion. according to what i understand the subnet 55 is not one of those i mentioned above. the above calculation says the subnets u can have for this subnet mask 255.255.255.224 are 32,64,96,128,160,192 then where did this 55 came from ??

Could u throw some light on this ??
