Clean OS Install on Compaq Presario

I may need to wipe a hard drive on a newer Compaq Presario and resinstall the OS. Its been a while since I worked on a Compaq. I seem to recall they always do things a bit different and proprietary. What “gotchas” should I be aware of? Do I need to follow a different procedure or should this be a standard format/OS install process?
