I have Windows XP installed on my computer (a Dell Inspiron). For some reason, a .dll file is missing on it and I can’t get online with MSN at all, and AOL will connect, but in the process of connecting, I get the error: “network assistance requested.” When I get onto AOL, the keywords won’t work. When I try to click on the blue IE “e,” the window just blinks and goes away.
Now, here’s the bad part … I went to uninstall a program that was giving me problems, and accidentally chose “Clean Sweep” and walked away for a few minutes, not realizing. When I came back, 1504 files ended up being deleted. I used the “undo” option, but all the files weren’t restored. I tried doing a System Restore, but the computer won’t even recognize any System Restore dates or times.
My question: besides for reinstalling XP totally, is there ANY way to fix this problem?
