Clicking (or Clunking) Hard Drive

by egandolfi . Updated 22 years, 10 months ago

I just built a box that consists of a MSI K7N2 Delta MB, Athlon XP 2800 Proc, 512MB RAM, 2 80 GB HDD, GEForce FX 5600 Ultra, Fire wire card, etc. When you power the box on the hard drives click (or clunk) 3 times. The machine boots up fine and it never happens again until the machine is warm booted or powered on. The hard drives I am using are Seagate ST380011A 80GB drives. I have hooked each one up individually and together. I also tried a 40GB drive and the same thing happens. I tested all 3 drives in a different computer and they work beautifully. I also tried replacing the IDE cable. It still occurs. Can anyone shed some light?
