client/server case studies

I have a college assignment investigating the development of client/server computing in the commercial sector. One of the headings of the assignment asks for 3 unsuccessful case studies of c/s and 3 successful. I have searched for hours on the internet and in journals, but cannot find any case studies for unsuccessful c/s computing. Does anyone know of any businesses in the past that have had problems implementing a C/s environment?
