Client32 IP Gateway & IE 5.5

Have Novell Client32 3.1.0 using IP gateway on Win98 II. If I start IE 5.5 first thing, it does not see the internet server. If I re-boot and either ping the internet server or start Netscape first, IE 5.5 will see the internet server after that. Anyone else getting this?
