I created a WSUS 3.0 server on W3K. I setup my server using the management console. My manager does not want to use Active Directory to register the client PC’s. I went to a test PC and setup a GPO directly on the PC, and set it to update from my server (It Worked). I went to two other PC’s to further test this, neither PC would register under my assigned group nor unassigned group. I checked the PC with the reg query command and it did have the configuration for my server. I did a ping and was able to ping my wsus server. I did a wauclt.exe command and still the client did not list with my wsus server. Can anyone please help.
Also, no other PC’s are listed under unassigned. I want to set up a policy to have the clients register with my wsus without having to touch each PC. Is there a way to do this without using active directory on my domain server. Please help.
