CNE Certification

I am one test away from my Novell CNE but I will not finish it until after the August 31 deadline to do the 4.11 to 5.0 update. Does anyone know what I need to do to keep my cert after I get it if I am not able to take the 4.11 to 5.0 update on or before the August 31 deadline. I talked to Novell about this and they said that I would then be able to take the 4.11 to 5.1 update. Does anyone know if this is true.
