Compaq Laptop boot problems

The laptop is a Presairo 2700 Compaq. I turn on the laptop and the company logo “Compaq” comes up right away, but it goes no further, when i press f10 to get to the options menu so i can switch it to boot from cd, it just says loading more options, and refuses to boot. Any help would be much appreciated.
