Computer/Internet Lockup

Hey everyone,

Im using WinXP on a T43 laptop, 512 MB, 2Ghz…

My problem occurs after startup. If I start the computer normally without my CAT5 plugged in then I have no problems. If I start the computer WITH the CAT5 the computer will boot, login, and lockup completely for about 10 minutes. The odd part for me if that if I start w/o the cable and let everything boot, then plug the cable in it does the same thign! Instantly locks the entire computer up(even the mouse) until it gets done doing…whatever its doing. Is this a familiar problem? Any help is appreciated…thanks!
