computer management from 2k3 server to XP

have an issue connecting via computer management from my 2k3 server to XP Pro everytime i try i get the following error:

“computer //computername.domain.com cannot be managed. The network path was not found. Choose conenct to another computer from the action menu to manage a different computer”.

This is odd as i was able to join the xp machine to the domain, the dns server is configured to point to the 2k3 server DNS, the Xp client client doesnt have any service packs neither does 2k3 server, its logged onto the domain the computer object is in ADS is there something that i might be doing wrong or may have missed out? i cant figure this one out
