computer turns on then turns off 1 second later

I just finished building a new computer for myself, and when i turn it on, it turns off after 1 – 3 seconds. i know it is on, because the LED’s in the ram and the fans come on, and all the case fans and cpu fans come on. after it turns off by itself, the power button on the case has no effect.
