Everything was working fine one day until I was forced to hard-reboot my computer after NT wouldn’t shut down after 5 or 10 minutes.
Now I have problems. I can get past the boot selection screen, but the blue screen that lists the memory, NT version (4 with SP 6) bombs out with a message “INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE” and a memory dump.
The dumb thing is that the master disk from which the OS is booted is fine. It’s my second disk that causes problems, and I know this because when I physically disconnect the second disk, the computer boots perfectly. Connect the second disk again — and I’ve swapped the connector that it plugs in to — and the problem crops again, as well as the disk activity light stays always on (instead of flashingand blinking).
Now, I did notice that BIOS recognizes the first “master” disk (a Maxtor), but not the second disk.
Any ideas for reviving my second disk or otherwise dealing with this situation?
