Computers Vs. The Old Fashioned Days

by comp1systems . Updated 21 years, 2 months ago

I think it would be safe to say that computers run nearly
95% of both our professional and personal lives. We do
everything on it from shopping on the internet, to talking
with our friends via messenger, to use speech programs to
prepare documents, and much much more. But what about
that group of individuals who have spent the last years
refusing to purchase a computer let alone learn how to use
one? Gripping to the manual typewriters, outdated fax
machines. Content with the fact that doing things the old
fashioned way is the better way and that computers are just
too confusing to become associated with.

Concerned with the time it would take to be trained.
Concerned with cost and the need to pay salaries for
trained employees. If you consider how much more time
could be saved with the use of a computer and the
opportunities available, I am certain that old fashion will
become history.

In today’s world of modern technology, features on a
computer and in applications have made it possible to
complete projects in record breaking time. I discovered
that a project that would have taken me nearly three days
to complete, will take me about a day and a half. A mailing
consisting of 150 addresses would have taken me probably
a week to prepare and to mail out. Now a project of this
magnitude would take me a day (given I start early enough
in the day).

Computers come with providing simplicity to our lives and
the way in which we use them. They allow us to reduce
paper files because of backup capabilities and databases
we take advantage of.

I think it’s time the old fashioned moved into the arena of
modern technology. And with the number of IT
professionals at their disposal, they would never have to
worry about being burdened with computer problems.
There’s always someone to call.
