I have Cisco 501 pix firewall, and I would like to configure it to be able to pass email through it. Right now I can receive email via pop3 but I cannot reply or respond to email, because the port is closed. I am using the web browser to access the configuration as well. I want to add the rule to allow email to be passed through it, but I want to be sure I configure it right and not have the dogs sniff it out and hit with emails from some crazy IP address. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Currently I use outlook to connect to my to me email server via its outside email address (pop3), and I recieve emaial, but cannot sent. My work around is to send email via my yahoo account, and I don’t want to continue to do this. Currently we are using Eudora until I can upgrade to Exchange, but for now I need this work around…All help is greatly appreciated.
