Configure devices from PDA

Is it possible to configure, interrogate etc devices like ProCurve managed switches via the serial console port using a PDA running terminal software?
I think something like MobileVT would do the trick but i dont know if plugging a USB>Serial converter into the PDA will work as i want it to.
