Configuring CISCO router thru serial port in RH Linux

Hi,

I am trying to configure a CISCO router through serial port in Red hat Linux.
I tried using minicom and cutecom, but i am unable to detect anything in the interface.
The following is the setting, that i configured for both minicom and cutecom.
Serial Port: /dev/ttyS0 (I have also tried with ttyS1 …)
Bps/Par/Bits: 9600 8N1
No Flow Control

Can anybody throw some light on it..
