connect a cable modem via a hub?

I am using a cable modem in my PC and it works well. besides, my PC use win2k with internet sharing for my sister’s PC. however, my PC must be always online. I am wondering whether I can connect the cable mode to a hub. thus both my PC and my sister’s PC still can access internet via the cable modem.
