connect web and sql win2003 server with a cross cable

Hi,

i have a probelm with setting up 2 dedicated servers. Both are running win2003 and one is gping to be used as web server and the other one as sql server.

Both will be internet-connected but i also want to connect them through a cross cable for the data tranfer among them instead of the internet.

Both server have 2 nics, so each one is connected to to internet with external IPs and remaining ones throught the cross cable with internal IPs. But when i enable the cross cable the internet connection is lost.

Am I missing sth? any helpul links or advice?
