Connecting fiber with switches

I had a linksys switch,16 port ethernet, 2 port fiber optic go bad. When I went to replace it they say they don’t make 2 port fiber with ethernet anymore, only 1 port. The only ones I can get cost about $2000.00. Any ideas?
I tried taking two switches that had 1 fiber port each. I connected fiber to one and then a cat 5 to the other then out with fiber on the second. I get blinking lights but the fiber led on one switch is dull and I can’t see my network on that side. Anyway that’s the story any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
