I have a problem! I am trying to set up a wireless network at a friend’s house. They have a Netopia 2210-02 ADSL modem/gateway unit. The technician said it would be easy to connect to their linksys router. Well it is not easy or simple. The technician did not even know it was a combo unit.
It has PPPoE, and apparently it is acting in router mode. I first had it connected normally to the Linksys WRT54G in the WAN port, but as you can tell that did not work. I moved it to a LAN port and now have internet access. I set it up so the Linksys has the PPPoE information, with DHCP turned off, and the Netopia is sharing its IP address.
You can have the one computer connected with the CAT5 but when you have the laptop connected wirelessly a message pops up on the desktop saying that IP conflict has occurred.
Please help!
Thanks,
Derek
