connecting to internet without reinstall

everytime I switch off computer I have to do a system restore to connect agian and also get this message
a cable is not plugged into the network adaptor
{local area conection}
plug a cable into the network adaptor
[local area connection]
then it says click here when you are done so that windows can check if problem is resolved but it never is
