Connecting via IP

by gnet158 . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I have a NetWare 5.1 server bound with IP and am running Ethernet 802.2. Other divisions are trying to connect to this server using a Windows NT and 2000 Pro workstation but can’t. They are all using Windows NT and 2000 (both server and workstation)they can ping the address fine. Now here’s the problem, our backbone does not support 802.2 only 802.3 (not the old Novell frame type but a redesigned frame type for Gigabit switches). I’ve tried installing Novell’s latest client (and selecting only IP) but I still can’t connect to the server. I suspect that the reason that they can’t connect because of the backbone not supporting 802.2? Is there any way around this? I thought that if I bound IP to my Netware server that anyone using IP would be able to connect?
